Nitrogen atmosphere furnace also known as oxygen-free annealing furnace, vacuum atmosphere sintering furnace, etc., is a method of sintering objects in a furnace chamber into which a certain gas is introduced.
Choosing the right atmosphere for sintering different materials will help the sintering process, improve the degree of product densification, and obtain products with good performance. Nitrogen atmosphere furnace commonly use various atmospheres such as vacuum, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and inert gases (such as argon). For example, transparent alumina ceramics can be sintered in a hydrogen atmosphere, transparent ferroelectric ceramics are suitable for sintering in an oxygen atmosphere, and nitride ceramics such as aluminum nitride are suitable for sintering in a nitrogen atmosphere. Sometimes, in order to protect the sintering coordination, it is also necessary to operate in a protective atmosphere.
